Tino Riojas

Hospital Manager

Hospital Manager, Tino Riojas, was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. After graduating from Edinburg High School he started to follow his dreams of working in the animal field. He got his start at Palm Valley Animal Shelter and has 16 years of technician experience. He has been the backbone of North 10th Street Animal Hospital for 9 years since they were located on 23rd street. He has been the hospital manager since January 2016.

Brittney Borrego

Head Technician

Brittney has been employed by North 10th Street Animal Hospital since 2014. During high school, she participated in a program allowing her to earn her Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) certificate while volunteering at North 10th Street Animal Hospital. Her dedication and passion for animal medicine earned her a permanent position with our team. After work, she loves going home to her three crazy dogs and three lovable cats. In the future, she plans on becoming a registered veterinary technician (RVT) and continue to advance in the veterinary field.

Cynthia Ayala

Head Receptionist

Cyndi has brought her expertise to the front desk since 2015. She currently resides in Mercedes, TX and is happily married to Roy Ayala, Jr. She enjoys spending her free time with her four daughters Bonnie, Dishanna, Amanda, and K’Lee and her grandson Prince. Cyndi is currently earning her Bachelors degree in Psychology from South Texas College. She has a love for all animals, but dogs are her absolute favorite. In her spare time she plays with her two yorkies, two terriers, two pit bulls, and one Chihuahua and if there is still spare time after that, she loves to read.

Melissa Benderas

Receptionist

Born in North Carolina, Melissa moved to South Texas at the age of 6. Melissa has owned a variety of dogs since before she could even walk, from small little teacup Chihuahuas to big Labrador Retrievers. There was always a furry friend in the family. Melissa has always had a passion to work with animals. Her first experience working with animals was at a boarding facility back in 2014 which she is still employed and promoted to management in 2015. Melissa joined the North 10th Street team in February of 2016, and his been bringing her vibrant smile and positive attitude to the front making our clients feel comfortable and welcomed ever since. She has also earned a Medical Assistant certificate from Brightwood College. After a small Pitbull was left at our hospital front door at the verge of death, Melissa immediately came to his rescue and nursed him back to health and she is now a proud owner of rambunctious and loving Titan enjoying every minute of life.

Michelle Gonzalez

Receptionist

Michelle Gonzalez Receptionist Michelle was born in Weslaco Texas, but was raised in south Donna/Alamo. She is a mother of two awesome little boys, Josiah and Noah and is happily married to her husband Jose Jr. Michelle started off as a stay at home mother, but grew a passion for the medical field. She received her Medical Administrative Assistant diploma in July 2016 after being on the Deans List four times at the Ultimate Medical Academy. In 2017 she found her passion working for animals at North 10th street Animal Hospital. She plans to grow both with the North 10th Street family and our wonderful clients she welcomes everyday.

Christian Perez

Lead Technician

Christian became a part of the North 10th Street team in March 2016. Christian’s vibrant personality keeps the staff on their toes. Christian was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley and graduated from McAllen High School in 2013. Christian is currently studying to pursue his dream in Pharmacology. Chrisitan and his pitbull Angus enjoy exploring the outdoors in his free time and he is also an avid guitar and piano player.

Karissa Hinojosa

Technician

Karissa was born in California but was raised from a very young age in Port Isabel, TX. She has always loved animals and knew she wanted to work with them. She once worked with exotic animals, including monkeys and birds. Her job responsibilities included driving across the country to take them to their new homes. She later received on the job training as a veterinary technician at the Port Isabel Animal Clinic where she worked for over a year. She joined the North 10th Street Animal Hospital team in August 2016 where she is continuing to learn and improve in the field. She enjoys her job and loves the people she works with. She currently lives in Edinburg with her husband, young son, and their family dog.

Kim Hinojosa

Technician

Kim was born and raised in McAllen, TX. After graduating from high school Kim worked in finance before joining the Veterinary field. Kim joined North 10th Street Animal Hospital in 2016 and brings 15 years of veterinary experience with her. She has experience in every aspect of veterinary medicine form receptionist to technician to office manger. She has experience with a wide variety of animals, including cats and dogs, pocket pets, birds, exotics, and wildlife. She has even worked with lions, tigers, and elephants! Kim has a mini zoo of her own including one Rhodesian Ridgeback named Mick, two shorthair cats, Jack Skellington and Dutch, an African Gray named Gibson and a Cockatoo named Babette. She currently resides in McAllen, TX with her husband and three beautiful girls.

Margarita Barco

Technician

Margarita was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. During high school, Margarita volunteered with the local veterinarian in Raymondville, TX where she got her first experience in the field. She attended Texas State University in San Marcos where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture-Animal Science. At college is when she was introduced into the world of large animals and became interested in other aspects of the veterinary field. She plans to attend vet school soon and study small and large animal veterinary medicine. Margarita joined the North 10th Street Animal Hospital in 2017 and is glad to be apart of an awesome team. Margarita has seven Chihuahuas that she loves very dearly.

Seleene Urrutia

Technician

13. Seleene Urrutia Technician Selenne was born in Santa Paula, California and later moved to South Texas where she discovered her strong passion for animals. Selenne is currently studying for her degree in Biology at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with hopes to become a Veterinarian. She looks forward to work every day to provide the best care for the animals as it is essential for her to keep the tails wagging and the clients happy. She also enjoys running, singing, making art and taking care of her Labradoodle, named Pluto. Selenne absolutely loves and enjoys working at North 10th Street Animal Hospital and adores her fellow coworkers along with the most extraordinary doctors.

Ilsa Flores

Ilsa was born in Eagle Pass, TX and raised in Chicago, IL prior to moving to McAllen TX in 2009. After graduating high school, she started volunteering at our local animal shelter and found her passion working with animals. She is pursuing her dream to study veterinary medicine. She currently lives in Mission, TX with her tabby cat Toby and enjoys taking care of horses. She recently joined the North 10th Street team in January 2017 and we are excited to have her on board.

Omar was born and bred in McAllen Texas and came to us in the beginning of 2017with a passion to learn veterinary medicine. With a passion for animals throughout his life he knew this would be a great stepping stone to achieve his goals. We are proud to say that Omar has exceeded our expectations as he is paving his future as bright as his smile. Omar is a great addition to our team and he takes great pride in keeping your four legged family happy and comfortable while you are away.
